Alicia Troncoso is a Full Professor in the Computer Science Division at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO). Prior to this, she was an Assistant professor at the University of Sevilla until she joined the UPO in 2005. She received her Ph.D. from the Computer Science Division of University of Sevilla in 2005. Her Ph. D. received the award for the best research work of the Andalusian Universities in the area of knowledge “Techniques” by Endesa Foundation. His postdoctoral training has been completed in the United States, specifically at Columbia University in New York, the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of California at San Diego. Currently, she is the director of the Master’s Degree in Computer Science at UPO and she leads the Data Science and Big Data Research Lab together with Francisco Martínez-Álvarez. Her research areas of interest includes time series forecasting, machine learning and big data. She is the author of more than a hundred papers in scientific journals and international conferences and has been supervisor of five doctoral theses. She participates in a great number of research projects and is currently the principal investigator of a project of the Research National Plan on big data streaming.
Alicia Troncoso was Secretary of the Computer Science Division from 2006 to 2007, Sub-Director of the Computer Science Division and responsible for Quality and Planning of the Engineering School from 2008 to 2009, Vice-Rector for Quality from 2009 to 2012 and Vice-Rector for ICT, Quality and Innovation from 2013 to 2016. Since 2017, she holds the current position of Vice-Rector for Information Technology and Digital Innovation.
